Frequently asked questions

Is this therapy?

No. I'm not a registered psychotherapist, and this isn't mental health treatment.

Fieldwork is pattern interruption work that operates at the intersection of nervous system science, somatic awareness, and parts-based exploration.

If you need therapy or are in mental health crisis, I'll provide appropriate referrals.

Is this medical treatment?

No. I don't diagnose or treat medical conditions.

I work with chronic pain and stuck patterns that have been medically assessed and haven't responded to conventional treatment.

If your pain needs medical assessment, I'll recommend you see appropriate professionals.

What happens in the Mapping Call?

In this 30-minute session, we’ll look at what’s been happening for you and make sense of it together.

We’ll explore:

  • what you’ve tried so far

  • where things feel stuck or confusing

  • what you’re hoping might change

  • whether there’s a neuroplastic pattern at play

  • and what kind of support would actually be useful from here

The aim isn’t to “sell” you anything.
It’s to help you understand what’s going on — and whether this way of working is a good fit.

Many people leave the session clearer about their pain or stuckness than they’ve felt in a long time, even if they don’t decide to continue.

If it is a fit, we’ll talk through next steps.
If it isn’t, you’ll still leave with a clearer sense of direction.

Who is this work most helpful for?

This work tends to resonate with people who are thoughtful, self-aware, and tired of chasing fixes.

Many have tried therapy, bodywork, medical routes, or self-help approaches and feel they’ve gathered insight — but not lasting change.

Some arrive with physical pain. Others with anxiety, fatigue, burnout, or a sense of being stuck in themselves. Often it’s a mix.

You don’t need to fit a label. You just need to be willing to look at what’s happening from a new angle.

What if I've tried therapy and bodywork and nothing worked?

That's exactly who this is for.

Most therapy doesn't address the nervous system pattern directly. Most bodywork doesn't address the emotional/protective layer.

Fieldwork integrates both—plus the parts-based understanding of why the pattern exists in the first place.

How is Fieldwork different from Pain Reprocessing Therapy?

PRT is one component of Fieldwork.

I use PRT principles (pain as learned neural pattern, safety reappraisal, somatic tracking) but integrate them with:

  • Parts-based work (IFS-informed)
  • Somatic awareness (from Body Stress Release, Clinical Somatics)
  • Relational field understanding (Gestalt)

This integration addresses where patterns organize across multiple systems.

What if my scans show something ‘wrong’?

Having findings on scans doesn’t automatically rule out a neuroplastic component.

Structural findings are extremely common, even in people without pain. What matters is how the nervous system is responding — not just what appears on an image.

The Mapping Session helps us look at the whole picture, without dismissing your experience or jumping to conclusions.

Do you work with people who have trauma?

Yes, but with clear scope boundaries.

If your trauma requires clinical trauma therapy (PTSD, complex trauma, dissociation), I'll refer you to appropriate clinicians.

I work with people whose patterns formed in response to life stress, overwhelm, or difficult experiences - but who are generally stable and not in crisis.

How long does it take to see results?

Some people experience shifts immediately (reduced pain, changed relationship to symptoms, insights about why the pattern is in place).

It depends on which option you choose:

The 3 session course focuses on providing you the tools and interrupting habits you build on to maintain your own system.

In the 6 session container we have the time and space to practice and create shifts that transform and last, with additional support in-between sessions.

Pattern interruption isn't linear. But most people shift significantly within the first 3 sessions.

Do I need to be in the UK to work with you?

No. All sessions are online via Zoom, so I work with clients globally.

I've worked with people in the US, Australia, Europe, Asia, and Middle East.

What if my pain comes back after we finish?

This is why Session 6 happens 2-4 weeks after Session 5—to address any patterns that re-emerge.

Six session container clients also receive 50% discount on Emergency Interrupt sessions forever (£100 instead of £200), so you have ongoing support available if needed.

Can I do just one session to try it out?

We will discuss this option and any others that would be most suitable to your particular situation at the end of our Mapping Call.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

48 hours notice required for rescheduling at no charge.

Less than 48 hours notice: session fee applies (or session is forfeited if pre-paid).

Emergencies happen- and in the case of genuinely unavoidable last-minute changes, we'll work it out on a case-by-case basis.

Do you offer refunds?

If you complete Session 1 and genuinely feel this approach isn't right for you, I'll refund the remaining sessions.

After Session 2, no refunds - but we can pause and resume later if needed.

What equipment do I need?

Usually, just a reliable internet connection and a private, quiet space where you can talk freely.

Video on is preferred (so I can see your responses, body language), but not required if that's uncomfortable.

Depending on what type of pain you are in, comfortable clothes may be required for some sessions where we may be doing physical interventions.

How do I know if my pain or symptoms are neuroplastic?

Many people arrive here because something about their pain doesn’t quite add up.

Tests may show “nothing wrong” — or they may show something minor that doesn’t explain the intensity, persistence, or spread of symptoms. Pain may move, flare unpredictably, or be closely linked to stress, fatigue, emotions, or life transitions.

The purpose of the 30-minute Mapping Session is not to convince you of anything, but to explore whether a neuroplastic pattern could be playing a role — and if so, what that opens up for you.

You don’t need certainty before you book. That’s what the session is for.

What if I don’t know what’s wrong — I just feel stuck?

That’s a very common starting point.

You don’t need a clear problem statement, diagnosis, or backstory. Part of the work is learning how to orient yourself — to notice what’s actually happening, rather than trying to solve the “right” problem.

If you feel caught in loops of effort, self-monitoring, or trying to be different — this work can help you find space and direction again.

Do I need to believe in this for it to work?

No.

Scepticism, curiosity, and intelligence are welcome here. This isn’t about belief or positive thinking — it’s about noticing patterns and learning how to relate to your experience differently.

Many people start out unsure and decide based on what they notice in their own body and mind.
